About
Stars Academy School of Phlebotomy in Hickory Hills, Illinois, provides focused, skills-based training for entry-level phlebotomy roles in the Chicago area. The four-week, 60-hour program (30 hours lecture and 30 hours lab) runs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday with day and evening options. Coursework includes professional ethics, patient relations, legal aspects, medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, specimen collection and handling, venipuncture and capillary techniques, infection control, bloodborne pathogens, urinalysis, and special procedures. Enrollment requires a government-issued ID, proof of high school diploma or GED, English proficiency, an up-to-date tetanus shot, and a $300 non-refundable deposit. Tuition is $1,600 and includes textbook, supplies, and CPR. Stars Academy is approved by the Illinois Board of Higher Education (Private Business and Vocational Schools) and is an authorized National Healthcareer Association testing center, enabling eligible graduates to sit for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam; exam fees are paid separately to NHA. The school also offers American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers monthly, included for phlebotomy students and available on-site for facilities that meet group size requirements. Instruction is delivered by experienced phlebotomy professionals in a lab environment that simulates clinical settings.
