About Giorgi
I was principal cellist in Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theater for 12 years. I have masters degree in cello performance, my professor, Tamara Gabarashvili is Tchaiovsky competition prizevinner an one of M. Rorsropovich's favorite student. I am member of string quartet "Iberi" and regularely perform as a soloist as well.
I started teaching in 2005 and since then I teach at least 15 students a week.
Masters degree in cello performance from Tbilisi State Music Conservatory.
Brooklyn College Music Education Advanced Certificate Program.
2004-2015. Principal cellist in Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State Theatre.

Motivation is the key component for successful learning. First of all I try to find out what is my student's goals, his/her current level, are there any gaps in learning and what will work the best to fix it. Cello is wonderful for playing all genres of music. Classical, Jazz, Country, Rock, all we need to succeed is just right approach to student, balance between concert repertoire and technical study and of course, practice, practice, practice!

I would say, choose one, competent in what he teaches, one you like to communicate with and, trust your inner voice or gut feeling in making choices.
The most recent event I honor is, this spring, April 2020, my student won NEMTA competition in New Jersey,

He is very patient and knowledgeable as well as an excellent cello player!
Giorgi is an excellent teacher who is very patient and makes the lessons fun and enjoyable. He really shows his love for the cello by teaching how to play with emotion and appreciation for the music. I highly recommend Giorgi!
Giorgi has made learning cello even more fun. From the sympathetic, "It is hard" to the precise, "Be careful about the curve of the thumb" he has strengthened learning in every lesson, without being overwhelming. He started playing a little duet on only the 3rd lesson or so, which made me feel, even as a beginner, that I'm already starting to make (occasionally screachy) music. He has suggested a variety of drills and practice techniques which have also sped up the process a lot. And he has a good sense of humor and surprising amount of patience.
