About Kimba
I was taught how to cook from age 6, by my grandmother who was a chef, a cook and a lunch lady in her later years. Her late husband also was a chef and taught her how to cook before sadly passing in 1966 at age 32. My family is from African and the Southern United States and we were taught how to cook from the time we could understand the world around us. Sadly she passed away in 2001 at age 62, but the memories and her teaching remained. I have been a cook since I was 7 and I am now 36 years old and I'm ready to teach others the way I learned how to cook, to continue the legacy that my grandparents left behind. My service stands out because unline my peers, I know how to maintain a kitchen, proper technique, from LIFE EXPERIENCE.
I love creating healthy dishes that anyone can eat. I enjoy seeing others happy with my creations, because like my grandparents, I care about what goes into our bodies. I, unfortunately, used to be 500+ and now that I'm 215 lbs I want others to learn how to eat properly so that they don't fall as I did. All my life I have been of service to humanity, helping others and my approach to teaching will be different from others.
I left an abusive relationship nearly 2 years ago and I was then free to start teaching others as I am now. Before, I could only do so when I had time to myself (which wasn't much). After I parted ways with him, I started teaching others in my neighborhood.
As I mentioned before, I was taught how to cook from a very young age at 6 years old. After my grandmother passed on in 2001, I began to teach myself baking and how to make pastries. In 2007, I completed Alissa Cohen's Living on Live Food Raw Vegan Chef certification and even after I had bariatric surgery nearly 3 years ago, I capitalized on what I was taught over the past 30 years and adapted it to my own dietary situation. I am now enrolled in WorldChefs Academy to become a Pre-Commis Chef and have plans to attain my Raw Vegan Teacher Certification via Alissa Cohen's Living on Live Food program.

Mostly the elderly and mentally challenged.
Ask your prospective teacher about their background, get a feel for the person BEFORE you meet them in person. Ask them what types of food they cook and if they can adapt it to your particular health needs.
I cooked for a friend and his wife (his wife is a world-class chef) and they ere VERY impressed with my cooking skills. They're both not easy to impress when it comes to food, and was asked by them to cook when his wife is too tired.
