About Salaams
Hello! My name is Salaams and I live in Oakland. I've been cooking since I was a child, and then began cooking professionally in my early twenties.
I've cooked in a variety of environments including cafes, restaurants, for catering companies, on food trucks and have also been a private chef. Much of my training has been in Italian cuisine but I've done a lot of experimenting on my own with other cuisines as well (American, Indian, Persian). I am also experienced at cooking for dairy-free, sugar-free, gluten-free, paleo and keto diets.
I have a strong belief that cooking has the power to heal and to bring people together and I love it for that reason. I hope to pass that on to you!
I love empowering people with the ability to cook. It really isn't hard and yet people are intimidated by it. Learning just a few techniques can enable you go from eating frozen meals to eating fresh, home-cooked meals!
If you're really ambitious, you can even learn how to start entertaining and sharing your food with others. When you feel confident about your cooking it opens up a world of possibilities!
I spent 10+ years cooking professionally and received both formal and on-the-job training.
