About Alison
With a history of 20+ years in nearly every type of art from drawing and painting, to crafts, sculpture, graphic design, illustration, photo & video, I am also a sensitive, enthusiastic and patient instructor with experience teaching many forms of art to students of all ages and levels.
Besides being an art instructor, I also create artwork for national art supply companies to use on their packaging. I'm a highly versatile artist who enjoys exploring new mediums and picks up new techniques easily.
I have always truly loved creating, and I believe anyone can learn to hone their creativity and artistic skills. I always say "If you learned how to write the alphabet, you can learn to draw what you see!"
I started teaching in 2011 as part of a degree I earned in ARts Administration.
I attended Mass College of Art, and Salem State for Graphic Design. I have taught art in the private school system, at community art centers, and independently.

I like to start by getting to know the student and their skill level and comfort with the materials and process.
I have worked with students of all ages and skill levels.
I really enjoyed teaching a new medium - alcohol inks - at a workshop for beginners. It was great to see all of the students gain confidence and experiment with this intuitive and versatile medium.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should think about what their goals are for the experience - do they want to master a new skill or develop an existing one? Do they want very specific lessons or do they want to be able to have more creative freedom?
