About Jamie
I love working with people and watching them grow their craft and express themselves. Art is so importan, in the process of making it and after it's put into the world. Art is universal.
I am a recent graduate with a bachelors degree in painting from the Cleveland Institute of Art as well as owning and teaching a wine and painting company.

Definitely start with the basics. Materials, a little bit of color theory, color mixing etc. Those basics are put into projects to help understand the application of the basics. I would then move to helping anyone to understand how to use the processes and tricks that work for them.
I own a wine and painting company and am the lead teacher. So, I have taught students ranging from children for kids parties, groups who are grieving, all the way to 104 year olds at nursing homes. I have taught sold out events on the Cuyahoga Valley Train (while it's moving). I have also had the pleasure of working one on one with a few people.
Everyone does art differently. You will find your way of creating that is unique to you. Another thing to note is as Bob Ross says "there are never mistakes, only happy accidents. I have a very good artist friend who told me I helped her to understand that in painting, you can always fix it. The wonderful thing about paint is you can cover previous marks. So be patient with it, it is a tool to express yourself but still a skill to learn but once you do, the possibilities are endless.
