About Elicia
I teach high realism to creative aspects in innovative ways to be more contemporary in the way an artist thinks. I want everyone to find their own way and be diverse as artists and not be cookie cutter. I give artists their own voice back and stop telling them what to do. I listen to their direction in art and give feedback and guidance, but always reminding them to never lose their artistic intuition and spark of their own. To me it's not just the product, just as importantly, it's about the process and journey of growth and knowledge.
I have been an art educator since 2004. I had my masters in 2005. I have researched all models and types of education and I believe that students that are guided to being self-directed and interested in what they are trying to achieve is the best way to learn. I teach through questioning everything going on in their mind and giving feedback in what they could think about further. I want artists to be out-of-the-box thinkers and create new ideas never been seen before. I also teach realism and more directly too, if that is the client's wish or want. I always say, "how are YOU different than a camera? What makes you special or stand out?" I want clients to feel satisfaction in not being exactly like a picture, but to take the reference as a starting point and become more; however, it is not my job as a teacher, to tell them where to go. Part of their journey is understanding their self.
My website is EliciaFrazier.com. I plan to enhance my website even further through the next month or two. I have received 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards in chalk art contest. I've done murals and paintings for corporations. I have done chalk art for restaurants. I got "people's choice award" in an art show with the Howard County Arts Council. I was highlighted in a magazine for plein air painting in Howard County. I taught with Baltimore County Schools and currently teach at Zoll Studio and On-line.
I wanted to be an art teacher since 5th grade and have pursued it ever since. At first it was because I loved art. Now it's because I want to help kids have a voice through their artwork and help them feel freedom through their creations.
School: HCC- AA in general studies, MICA- BFA Fine Arts and Masters in Art Teaching, Additional Advance Painting Class at Towson and HCC.
Teaching: MICA- teaching with the "Young Peoples Studio." BCPS for 7 years- middle school art magnet and high school. Assistant Teacher at Montessori Manor
Training: "Twice exceptional kids" class, Montessori classes in emotional intelligence and stress, and "creating a self-directed environment," not to mention reading a ton of books on classical homeschooling, Waldorf homeschooling, Montessori books, Unschooling books, etc.

First asking them why they signed up and what they want to be working on. Once I get a feel for where they are wanting to take their art, we come up with a plan for imagery whether still life at home or pictures from internet or their own references. Then we look at the picture, reference or objects and talk about how to start based on their projected direction in art.
Mostly artistic talented k-adult. Special needs. Gifted. Also, some inner city kids too.

Details
At Zoll studio we charge $34 per two-hour class per each child. So if I have 10 kids that is $340. I get 62% of that for take home. Out of that, I pay for all supplies, taxes and commute.
With my on-line at home I have charged the same amount, but money still goes to Zoll Studio 38%, I also pay PayPal and I'm paying for my website and Zoom and some supplies for demonstrations.
