About Melanie

Hi, I'm Mel!

I've recently graduated from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and I'm interested in pursuing my passion in research and education. I've proudly earned my B.S. in Economics in 3.5 years, graduating magna cum laude with a cumulative GPA of 3.72.

I've completed extensive coursework in economics with focuses in the history of economic thought, business analytics, and research methods pertaining to business and economics. Furthermore, I've studied business and professional speaking as well as business and organizational writing.

My goal is to aid scholars in understanding the fundamentals of the material in a way that helps them relate their studies to real-world experiences. Whether it be evaluating market trends or conducting a cost-benefit analysis of personal decisions, economics disciples build lasting life skills applicable to any field.

There is no better feeling than that of accomplishing a difficult task. Resilience is truly one of the driving forces of success, and, thankfully, it is within all of us. Economics can be an intimidating subject, especially for first-time students. However, the payoff from succeeding in this field outweighs any challenges faced along the way.

The biggest benefit that comes from studying economics is the critical thinking skills acquired which are not confined to business settings. The analytical reasoning that accompanies economics can be applied in a multitude of environments. Whether students continue exploring economics or stop after one course, the skills they build along the way will evolve them into deeper and more versatile thinkers.

When working with new students, it is imperative to understand their method of learning. Every individuals path to success is different whether it be using visual, aural, verbal, physical, or logical methods of learning. Together, my students and I will pinpoint what approach works best for them and find ways to implement that style into their study sessions.

Another way of helping students absorb the material is by connecting the subject matter in ways that fits their world. While economics can be challenging, it is a broad subject that can be applicable to most, if not all, situations. Using real-life examples that peak students' interests helps them relate to the material thus making it easier to retain the information.

Finally, a safe and positive environment is an absolute must when it comes to facilitating learning. Creating an atmosphere where scholars aren't afraid of asking questions or providing wrong answers is vital to making progress. As humans, we are constantly learning through the process of trial and error. Knowing this, I strive to create a setting where students feel comfortable making mistakes so they can proactively transform their misunderstandings into effective learning.
