About Sarah
My experience working at a college writing center allows me to understand the level of writing that is expected. I have a masters degree in education. I wrote a research article that was published in a journal and taught a class at Emory University. I have worked with several different students and understand the patience and open mind needed to help students progress and achieve their goals.
During my tutor sessions, I am encouraging and try to make it fun/light while still being efficient and during each session. I am passionate about helping students improve and will adapt my teaching style based on the student's needs.
The best part about tutoring is the moment when the student feels proud of what they have written, and more confident about his/her writing by the end of the session than they did at the beginning. It is so rewarding to help students make progress and give them the tools and confidence to become better writers.
Teaching has always been a passion of mine. It is not my main career, but something I have continued to do in addition to my full time job because it brings me joy. I love helping students achieve their goals and teaching them to improve their skills.

First, I make sure that I clearly understand the student's goals. Then, I begin making a plan/timeline for how to achieve those goals. I expect the student to come up with their own material, but will help guide them in finding the right words to convey their thoughts in an organized, detailed but concise manner.
I have worked with mostly college students in the past, all very different skill level. Some were ESL students, others were applying to graduate school.
Be ready to brainstorm, be open to suggestions/constructive criticism, and be motivated to write a great essay!

My tutor helped me tremendously with my college essay. She provided excellent input that I believe will help with my admission to top schools. I highly recommend Sarah as a tutor for any essay help needed. Our sessions did not feel rushed at any point which made me feel like she actually cared to help. She dissects the essay in a way where you are able to make the changes she suggests and add your personal touch to it.
was stressed and anxious about writing a personal essay to submit for my grad school application, but after a few tutor sessions with Sarah, I felt much more confident. She was patient and gave great tips for making things more concise and helped me produce a great essay. She will really work to help you reach your writing potential and make it a fun process too!
