About Fatima
I am a graduate of Long Island University. I received my Bachelor of Arts in English with a concentration in creative writing. I also have a minor in Media Arts. Currently, I am pursuing my Masters in Mental Counseling at Hunter College. I've had many academic jobs over the course of my career. I was a 3rd grade ESL teacher in Austria, an SAT Prep Mentor at Long Island University, and a Teachers Assistant at Kingsborough Community College.
English has always been my favorite subject since I was a kid. Instead of playing outside during recess, I would stay indoors and read a book. English is my passion, and it's always been my goal to show students just how much fun English can be. I know many students hate English as a subject, but that's because teachers don't put in the effort to make the topic align with students' interests. I am confident that I can help students find something to like within the subject, whether it's a favorite character, quote, or chapter, there's something there for everybody. I tutor all things English from poetry to essay writing. I like to write creative pieces during my spare time, but I'm also a movie buff and video game fanatic. Why? Because it's creative writing! You see, English is everywhere. Someone had to write the plot to these things, after all. I can't wait to elaborate on the vast world of English with you!
