About Katherine
Hi, I’m Katherine! Since high school my friends and family members have come to me for help writing and editing stories, essays, research papers, cover letters, personal statements, and more. I graduated from Johns Hopkins University with a double major in Writing Seminars and French. I also have an MA from NYU in Humanities and Social Thought, and am currently working on an MFA in Fiction at Columbia University. I have years of experience informally helping people with their writing and also some experience as a reading friend.
I love to work one on one with people on their writing, helping them clarify what they need to say and find their voice to say it. I not only help them to improve a particular piece, but also aid their writing process: how to think critically about their own writing, organize their thoughts, identify problem spots on their own, and build confidence for future pieces. Writing and reading has been central to my own experience, and I would like nothing more than to share my love of these subjects with others. Please feel free to contact me, whether to ask questions or schedule a lesson.

I appreciate her technical knowledge in writing while still being able to keep the writer's essay in character. She is very logical and detailed oriented.
She provided outstanding and experienced guidance in improving my writing. I have requested and received her help multiple times. Each time her advice and recommendations have greatly improved my writing. She is proficient in all aspects of writing including grammar, word choice, different writing styles, and organizing the content. From fiction to technical papers, I have used her services for help across a broad range of writing topics. I highly recommend her as a tutor for anyone.
Katherine was kind and patient and helped a lot with my personal statement. She helped me to articulate what I wanted to say and turn my string of facts into a compelling story. I think it definitely helped me stand out.
