About Denise
I offer learning with a purpose through various subjects and grade levels. I thrive when I have studied the student to the point where I can individualize his/her learning experience towards refining the strengths to overcome the weaknesses.
My 21 years of experience teaching elementary, middle and high school students ranges from Special Ed., Regular and Honors Classes and ESOL. I have specialized in Elementary subjects: Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. The Middle School subjects I have and am currently teaching are Language Arts, Creative Writing, ESOL (Middle/High School) and Research. I also teach the English portion of a High School Standardized Test Prep Course.
I am a Florida State-Certified Teacher with ESOL and Students with Disabilities Endorsements. I am also ACSI certified for Christian Schools.
Along with strong English communication skills, I speak, read and write Spanish fluently. I am versed on many digital learning platforms and use them often.
One on one tutoring is one of my favorite ways of helping students learn and grow. The time spent getting to know them and watering the seeds of their smarts and talents is a gift to me. I thoroughly enjoy watching young ones evolve and develop who they are meant to be.

We take some time to get to know one another. I ask about their interests, family, friends...etc. I ask them questions about what they do and don't like, how they learn and study best. If they don't really know, I give them a quick survey and we discuss the results. I tell them a little bit about me as well.
