About Jiya

Hi! My name is Jiya Patel and I am a junior in high school. I have a talent for grammar, and I can offer a relatable, less-intimidating perspective to you or your child. Please feel free to reach out to me if you are interested or if you have any questions!

I absolutely love working with students and actually seeing the click of understanding on their faces. I also really love watching my students grow more and more confident and sure of themselves. I despised math until I met an amazing tutor who allowed me to see my true abilities and brought out a new wave of boldness in me! This is truly the most rewarding aspect of tutoring, and I can't wait to help you or your child grow to your/his/her full potential!

While I do not have formal education in teaching, I have always loved tutoring and working with children (and high schoolers!). My first informal teaching position was a summer job at a preschool, and I came to realize that I had a passion for helping others learn valuable lessons, whether they involve learning the colors of the rainbow or discovering the Oxford comma.

While I do not have any formal training in grammar, I have a strong understanding of a wide variety of concepts from elementary to high school level. Additionally, I have about 3 years of experience tutoring students. I volunteer at an after-school program and help students with homework, and I have a few students that I tutor in math and science.

When working with a new student, I would schedule a time that we could meet to discuss areas of improvement and my general methods.

I have worked with students of all ages. I have experience with toddlers, elementary students, and middle schoolers.

I do not charge for the first meeting, as I would like my students to have a chance to reflect on our discussion and decide if I am the right fit. After the first meeting, I charge a fee of $20 an hour, but pricing can be negotiable.
