About Marie
I believe in taking a piecemeal approach to the writing process. I begin by helping students understand that they already have the potential to write well. They must simply learn to write as they speak: in complete sentences and with a reflective quality.
I also prioritize understanding some key rules of punctuation. After all, even if you have brilliant thoughts and key insight, it won't matter much if no one is able to understand your thoughts or your writing doesn't present them clearly.
I simply enjoy putting words together in a way that informs and entertains. I spend my free time creating punctuation and essay-writing exercises for students. It's exciting to help students discover that writing is not some mysterious, agonizing task that is difficult to carry out.
I began teaching at a charter school some time ago (teaching 7th grade ELA). It was a great experience, and I've been teaching ever since.
I taught English Language Arts for several years (grades 6-8), I am certified to teach English, and I have a degree in English.

I evaluate their current level of knowledge by giving them a brief formal or informal assessment. I then explain the process we'll be following to improve their writing. This includes completing practice drills and homework assignments regularly.
I've worked with a variety of students. Each had tremendous potential; however, initially, each had learning deficits or underdeveloped skills that had to be addressed.
