About Amy
Hello! I'm Amy, and I use they/them pronouns. I've been teaching college writing, research writing, creative writing, and literature for 7 years (Seattle Central College, Maine College of Art, and Southern Maine Community College). I love working with students to help them improve their writing. I focus on giving compassionate feedback by offering positive reinforcement for what a student does well and showing them how to make their good writing great. Building confidence in writing skills while providing the tools to improve has been an incredibly successful model for me! I'm happy to share student reviews, if you'd like. I currently teach English 101 and 102 and Creative Writing at Seattle Central College. I taught English Composition and Intro to Literature at Maine College of Art and Southern Maine Community College. I started teaching in higher education in 2013.

When working with a new student, I like to learn about their experiences with education, how they learn best, and what their goals are. Then, we will discuss their assignments and how we can work together to successfully complete them.
Most of my students are Running Start students and International students.
