About Caterina
I have been teaching English (literature and ESL) for over five years in England, Italy, and Canada, to a wide variety of students, from children as young as six to PHD students. I have a Bachelor's (honours) degree in English Literature and a Master’s degree in English and Creative Writing. I have taught and tutored for universities, language schools, and private tutoring companies.
I can help you with any stage of writing from brainstorming ideas to writing an outline, sentence structure and clarity, editing, and proofreading. I believe in teaching students to become independent learners so that eventually they don't need my help anymore.
I always start each session by asking you what YOU want to get out of our time. What are you goals for this session and what are you larger life/academic goals? I will do my best to help you achieve these.
Not only can I help you with English, I can also help you with your writing in any subject from Art History to Engineering. I also have experience teaching stress and time management skills. I have delivered a number of professional workshops on study skills.
I truly love tutoring and teaching. I enjoy getting to know students and teaching them how to help themselves. As sad as it is to see a student go it's wonderful to know that you've given them skills like editing, drafting, proofreading etc... that they can use on their own. It's fantastic to see students making progress.
I also believe that critical thinking and writing skills can have a significant impact on a student’s life beyond the classroom and I am passionate about teaching those skills.
