About Desiree
I've been studying English Literature since I went to Cabrillo College in 2007. I've obtained my BA in English Literature, Masters in Education and my Teaching Credential in Single Subject English so I am skilled in all things reading, writing, communications and even some dramatic theater.
I've worked with youth since I was a teenager myself and my passion is teaching them the wonders that a book can bring them.
Since I was young, I've always known that I wanted to be a teacher. It started with babysitting, tutoring, teaching theater to ages k-12 locally and then when I was old enough for college, I could focus my education on obtaining my teaching credentials.

The foundation of what makes a student and teacher working relationship flourish is trust. I like to get to know my students on a personal level so they know I am on their side.
We start with ice breakers and a dive into what their history with English is. Perhaps they have never read a book that they loved, or they are intimidated by the writing process. It's important to have a starting point so we can understand how I can help them.
The last past 5 years I've been working with high school aged students. I am trained to work with K-12 students as well as College.
I've worked with students that have learning disabilities of a vast range and work alongside parents and counselors to create a plan of action for the student to find success.
