About Raye
I always have FUN with my lessons. I have figure skated for a majority of my life! Have competed for 6+ years, and have performed with Ice Theatre of NY and currently coach at Lakeside in prospect park. I LOVE working with kids of all ages and love seeing progress!!!
Fell in love with skating and never looked back. I also really love working with kids and providing real tools that work!
I started skating when I was 6, and spent a majority of my life on the ice up until age 19!!! I have a deep love for skating, and dancing (the two go hand in hand), and love to be playful on the ice. I like to make my lessons fun. They usually go by very fast.

Depends on the level and experience! We take it slow, but build tools fast. You can’t skip steps in skating, so I like to feel out each individual’s own pace. I am USFSA trainer, so if the level gets high enough, we will move into testing.
You name it! First timers-very experienced and everything in between. Some students have more of a psychological block with skating and I like to help them break through that.
You want to work with someone who will put a lot of energy into you, make sure you don’t develop bad habits, and set you on the right track!!
One time a child was stuck to the wall, and I was using techniques to get him distracted from his fear of skating. Finally there came a moment when he was gliding on the ice and realized he was balancing all on his own, got his bearings, and that it wasn’t that hard as he had imagined. It was a beautiful moment!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Notify your coach of any injuries, and make sure you’re wearing nice flexible gear! Make sure to stretch beforehand, because it is a workout! And I will push you as far as you allow me :))
