About Sean
Over the last 15 years I've taught over 11,000 private lesson ranging in age from 6 to 93. I have a bachelor's in Music Theory and Composition, a master's in Flute Performance and I particularly enjoy teaching adult students and woodwind doublers. I play and teach all styles and specialize in extended techniques including multiphonics, flute beatboxing, circular breathing, and many more. I am extremely patient and personable, and enjoy working with students at all levels.
I began teaching during the summers while I was in college and continued ever since graduating.
I have a Master's Degree in Flute Performance from New York University where I taught a studio of undergraduate students and studied with the world-renowned Robert Dick. I've taught over 10,000 private music lessons in the past 15 years.

The first lesson is usually about getting to know the student. I find out what kind of music they like playing, what kind of music they like listening to, and what their musical goals are. I ask them to play a piece that they feel comfortable with so I can assess and meet them at their individual skill level, whatever that may be.
Flute students of all ability levels from ages 7 to adults, beginners and experts.
Beginning and intermediate clarinet and alto & tenor saxophone students.
Beginning and intermediate ukulele students.
Make sure you discuss your goals with your potential teacher to make sure they're a good fit with you.
I recently performed live for the first time since the pandemic. It was a five-show run at a Philadelphia comedy club playing flute, drums, and tenor sax for one of my favorite comedians. It was a lot of fun!

He is a good teacher and very patient with me. I took a break from clarinet lessons when I moved to India, and when I came back, I again started my lessons with Sean since he teaches well. I enjoy my music classes with him and I learnt a lot this year from him.
Sean is a wonderful teacher! He's very patient with whoever it is he's working with and always makes sure things are on track. He goes above and beyond for his work!
Our daughter has been learning flute with Sean for about 4 years. She likes Sean's teaching style and has been improving a lot. In 2019, she was selected for DE All-state band. We are very happy to have Sean teach our daughter.
Sean is extremely talented musically, but also very empathetic and good at connecting with students. He speaks about music in a way that engages students without ruining the joy of playing. He has done an excellent job with our 9 year old daughter, but I would recommend him to students of all ages.
Sean is great at finding ways to support my particular interests and at same time making sure I'm getting a solid foundation under all the exploration! He doesn't just teach you where the notes are on your instrument, but works on tone, expression through articulation and dynamics, and just the right amount of music theory underlying what your playing. And he's fun!
My daughter started learning flute from Sean when she was in 7th grade. After two and half years, she would like to learn more from Sean, and recently increase learning time. Thank you Sean for all you do!
