About Preston
I have learned over the years that the best way to teach someone is to show them how to teach others. I have learned more on the guitar by showing it to people that are interested. Not everyone catches on, but sometimes, it not only leads to a more firm foundation in music, but also to life changing collaboration. Learning afoundation, and then expanding your horizon is paramount. It takes away from the idea that you should grudge through practice 30 minutes a day and promotes the idea that you have fun with family and friends by passing on what you know. I aim to take the ego out of music and implant the idea that music is for everyone.

We begin by understanding the general musical interests of any particular student, learn what they aim to be musically, and then define a path to that place. As students grow in understanding music and musical theory, they may change the way they feel about a particular style or genre. Music has always been a straight path through knowledge based in classical themes. Not every student is appreciative of all aspects of musical theory so it is important to find what they need to develop into what they want. As they grow and change, it is important to embrace this change and promote movement. Strict practice is not enforced or required, but students are encouraged to attempt to show another individual what they are trying to learn, even if it's with their own instrument. Students that find someone who takes particularly well to the instrument, even more so than themselves, are encouraged to continue to pursue time with them to help solidify lessons.
