The first lesson starts with getting to know the student, assessing competency, and establishing preliminary goals. The joy of private lessons is the ability to cater the lessons around each student. Not everyone takes to classical training well. My focus is on giving each student the tools they need to meet their goals. I want each student to enjoy the learning process. It takes much encouragement to move past the many frustrations of learning to play a musical instrument.
I have taught a middle-aged man with almost no musical knowledge, and I have taught young children.
