About Phineas
I will work with any student at any reasonable age and most Genres. My goal is to teach the student what ever style they wish to be good at. I am also a multi-instrumentalist and have proficiency on many instruments. I am also an expert in complex harmonies as used in Jazz, Progressive Rock and Fusion applications. Arrangement and composing are also available for certain students.
Guitar, Flute, Saxophone, Bass and Piano
Often, instument teachers focus on giving their students what is required to play at school. I prepare my students to exceed this standard and develop their own identity. It brings me a high level of pride when a student becomes sucessful and accomplished with their music. Sometimes even to bypass my capabilities.
Playing Cello in Elementary School. Wound up playing Cello for 10 years before I stopped playing it.

On Flute - Memorizing fingerings, breathing and tone.
On Guitar/Bass/Piano - Scale patterns and finger strength.
Mostly Flute and Saxophone. Most of my students have been rejected by the mainstream teachers in the area. Either for being too old, too young, non-conventional thinkers, too advanced, too slow, aggressive attitude etc...
No matter what the short coming, if you are willing to practice, you can be a good player at your own pace.
Try to pick a teacher that will adapt to your learning style. A teacher that is an excelent player will not always make the best teacher.
