About Keith
I struggled to play harp. I still do. I am not a genius or an artist. I just like to play harp and I understand the difficulties of picking up a harmonica and playing something.
I have been playing harp for 30 years. I've taken lessons from some of the great harp players. I think I can get someone started on the right track and improve their playing.
I love blues. Being able to jam along with a blues song is about as much fun as there is in this world.
I taught Blues Harp workshops at Rockland Cimmunity College for a few years.
I have been playing 25 years and have taken lessons from Gary Primich, Phil Wiggins, Little Annie Rains, and others.

I like to start students in playing "close enough" style and learning 12 bar blues structure. Then as the student feels comfortable with blues working on 1) clear single notes. 2) bends. 3) Simple riffs and other tricks. 4) Using the blues scale. 5) Playing "Off the Wall"
I like working with absolute beginners.
Find one that is willing to work with a beginner. Most of the people I've seen want to teach advanced supjects and don't have patience for a beginner.
I recently went to see Jason Ricci at the Turning Point in Piermont. Every time I see him he is better than the last.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
If you want to be a Blues Harp master and tour the world, give up now. If you don't want to embarass yourself at a Jam, then by all means take a few lessons to get pointed in the right direction.
