About Shreya

I love working with kids and have been doing so for the last four years as a gymnastics coach, as well as through tutoring at the local elementary school. I look forward to watching each child grow and accomplish their goals.

I started teaching at the gym and my love for working with children translated into community service projects with students in varying situations, as well as being a camp counselor.

I am a high school senior currently with straight As. I have tutored elementary kids with learning disabilities, facilitated workshops at the local homeless shelter, and created curriculums for daily classes for students with special needs. I have also coached gymnastics for four years and have experience working with a wide range of ages and abilities. During the summers I am a camp counselor who works on community service projects at a monastery with teams of children and also lead discussions surrounding morality and social justice.

About the lesson

I'll discuss the academic strengths and weaknesses with them and have them talk through their thought process when looking at difficult questions. For abstract concepts, I'll use a piece of paper to map out and visualize problems and ideas. With this strategy, the child no longer has to juggle words and numbers in their mind and the two of us can work through questions together.

I have worked with children ages 3-16, and neurodiverse students with disorders ranging from Autism to ADHD.

Choose someone you are comfortable with and you feel makes your confusing work easy to navigate.

During a workshop I was conducting at the homeless shelter we read Where the Wild Things Are and created monsters out of paper plates.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about when the teacher is talking and everything seems to be going over your head or when you are stuck on a worksheet problem for long amounts of time and can't get through it. Notice those problem areas, especially the specific concepts/ideas where things become confusing, so you can utilize your tutor/teacher's help in the most efficient way possible.
