About Millie
The first time I ever tutored, I worked with a grown woman who had never before had an education. I witnessed the first time that she ever had put pen to paper to write a story, an essay, and a short paragraph. Watching her develop her passion for writing, and learning, was transformative. This experience prompted me to reasses what it felt like to discover my own passion for writing. Tutoring gives the ability to find joy in another person's discovery of the magic of written word. I believe that every single one of my students capable of cultivating their own voice, no matter where they begin.
I most enjoy seeing my students make drastic improvements. To see them realize their passion for learning is perhaps even more impactful. I enjoy being able to encourage my students to express their creativity, helping them to use writing as a more imaginizative outlet. I often find that writing can be a struggle for students. Teaching them not to be intimidated by the creative process, or analytical work, is always rewarding.
