About Chris
Chris Keys here, if you are looking how to better defend yourself and others you’ve come to the right place. Since the 1980s I have participated in various types of interventions/rescues as well as competing and training to a professional level with my professional boxing career being cut short by a surfing accident in Southern California where I grew up. I have been involved in the fighting arts since the 70s with many years of experience in boxing mixed with training in Kenpo, JKD, knife and improvised weapons , and grappling . My primary focus now is reality fighting/myth busting,tools of a fighter, and rape prevention. I am passionate about helping men women and children to survive realistic situations and to help, men especially, to gain the tools necessary to intervene for others and not just be observers. I am also an experienced victim counselor, approaching the pain, confusion, and trauma from a Christian perspective. I’ve worked with everyone from children to soldiers, first timers to the very experienced. Many references available on request. Call anytime for a phone consultation . Training men to leave "virtual" manhood, to be protectors and to watch them become more formidable fighters. I also enjoy helping women as well as men, gain the tools to survive dangerous or brutal encounters. Seeing people gain a confidence that is based on reality, not just certificates.
Training friends in my youth to fight back against bullies. Something I did many times, into adulthood. With fighting success and a growing reputation, I was continually asked "teach me how to fight".
I trained in boxing to a professional level in Los Angeles and Long Beach California I became a certified fitness trainer through the National Federation of Professional Trainers. I trained in Kenpo Karate and Jeet Kune Do as well for a more thorough look at my history please request a list of recommendations.

I like to help the student assess his or her current abilities, fitness level, and goals, and then go over the path I see that will be most helpful to them. Everyone is a little different and I don't do a "cookie cutter" approach. Seeing what “tools“ they have to work with and which ones they need to learn.
Men and women, boys and girls, police officers and soldiers, both beginners and experienced fighters.
I have volunteered teaching self-defense at a fundraiser for a young man dying of cancer, also raising funds to fight human trafficking.

What are my specific goals ? Self defense, fitness, preparedness , fighting sports, assault recovery, being able to protect others, fighting philosophy, toughening up , weapons training, etc.
