About Angela
YMAA Tai Chi Ch'uan of Wisconsin is a branch school of YMAA International. Although I teach mainly for health, the martial underpinnings of the barehand sequence are explained as we go along. There is definitely a martial structure being built right from the very beginning. My background in yoga and dance also informs my teaching method. Students may repeat the beginners class until they are ready to join the continuing class and learn the entire sequence.

I look at teaching as another form of practice, but with an inter-active energy exchange between myself and the students. Once you step into your Tai Chi practice, you constantly are uncovering new aspects of this special Martial Art form and about yourself.
I have a background in dance and yoga. I observed my first Tai Chi Ch'uan class in 1991 in Boston, and decided to pursue it as a career. In 2003 I received my first level instructor certification from Yang's Martial Arts Association. I have been teaching ever since and am now pursuing my second level certification.

Each student is taken at their present fitness level, as a beginner. We have introductory foundations for learning the Taijiquan concepts, starting with regulating the body, and breath. For the body, we have the 8 Basic stances and the 8 movement beginners form. For the breath, we learn to identify the yin and yang cycles in the form and co-ordinate inhale and exhale to match the forms.
