About Crystal
I have my bachelors degree in business-finance. I excelled at my financial accounting job, but I reached a point that I could not move up and I wanted a career that was more exciting.
I decided I wanted to teach, so that I could make a difference. I have been teaching for six years & I love it! One year I taught history in Dallas, my other 5 years have been in Anna, TX.
I teach all levels of middle school math. That includes: basic arithmetic through Algebra.
I became a teacher because I wanted to benefit others, not just the corporate world. I had a calling, and I followed it wholeheartedly.
I have a bachelors degree in Finance and am certified to teach business education.
I have been teaching middle school math for the past five years. I taught history for a year prior to that. In addition to my time as a teacher, I was a Financial Accountant for a year during which time I excelled at my job, but didn't have the ability to have enough work to keep me from becoming bored.

If the student has specific goals: we will address those concerns immediately. I will relate as much as I can to the real world.
If the student does not have specific goals, and wants long-term assistance, I will work through some math problems with them to find where their difficulties seem to be before we move on to working more in depth.
I have worked with students who are considered GT, and have amazing mathematical abilities to students who are mathematically challenged.
Some of my previous students needed someone to help them believe in themselves, and show them they have the ability to be amazing with math as long as they take their time and practice a little more than others.
Hire a tutor that pushes you, and makes you feel empowered to be better in your area of weakness. Do not hesitate to move on from a tutor if they do not help you with both your scholastic abilities & your self-esteem in relation to those abilities.
I am fond of students who normally feel as though they hate math, tell me that they love my class and that it's their favorite.
It's most rewarding when they move to high school and tell me that they are doing amazing their because I pushed them to be better.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Students should decide if they are looking for short term or long term help, and if they need to be face to face or in person.
In addition, to those two items students should also decide what their personal weaknesses are, and not just wait for a tutor to try to find their weaknesses as that could be a waste of time and money for the student.
The tutor will have the ability to determine the students weak areas, but it is best if the student helps facilitate the tutoring process by having specific goals in mind.
