About Bob
I have experience teaching in several formats, and I prefer one on one tutoring. The process becomes a conversation instead of a lecture, and the student becomes an active participant instead of a passive listener.
I have done this for many years, dating back to high school, when the math department sent kids to me who had trouble with algebra.
My skills as a teacher are very good, and I am an excellent listener and diagnostician. I am able to determine what the scope of the problem is and to plan steps to correct it. Many of my students who start out behind their classes progress to the point where they are ahead of their classes.
I live for the moments in which the student gets it. One girl I saw a couple of years ago "got it" about some point of German grammar, and got as happy as I have ever seen a person get. My guys are less demonstrative: they look me in the eye and smile. Both reactions say "I got it"!
I started tutoring algebra when I was a junior in high schools. I got good results, made decent money from some students, and filed it away. I never thought of teaching in the schools, but I have taught classes in New Testament and Woodworking. A few years ago I helped a relative learn enough algebra to pass the GED. More recently a student of mine won a Gold Star Summa Cum Laude on the National Latin Exam.
That is to say, I have dealt well with students at a wide range of skill levels and with a wide range of expectations. I like to work with kids who are bright and who can learn to raise their games.
I have learned by experience. I started tutoring math when I was in high school. Since then I have taught adult classes at my churches and at Seniors Enriched Living in Roswell, GA. I taught woodworking classes at Highland Hardware in Atlanta, and I trained many employees at Trust Company Bank (now SunTrust) and at Boston Safe Deposit. I presently teach students in several subjects and in SAT and ACT test preparation.

I set up a first meeting with the student and one parent or both. At that meeting I make sure that everyone is in agreement about what the student needs, and I make clear what every party needs to do to achieve success. I look for dynamic elements and determine whether it is a situation where I can help. If that first brief meeting goes well, I will generally go into the first session with the student. Otherwise the parent or I may decide not to go forward, or we may schedule the first session for another time.
I have dealt well with students at a wide range of skill levels and with a wide range of expectations. I like to work with kids who are bright and who can learn to raise their games.
I have worked with students in public and private schools, so I have seen a wide range of human existences. Mostly I look for students who are bright, polite, and willing to make an effort.

I was worried that my son would have trouble with Latin. Bob met with him a few times before the school year started, so he has always been ahead of his class. Last year my son won a Gold Star Summa Cum Laude rating for first year students on the National Latin Exam. Bob Saye has an excellent work ethic. He is well informed, prepared, enthusiastic and professional. I highly recommend Bob for any educational setting. He is friendly, caring, punctual and organized. After my sons first Latin year, he received th Latin Gold Medal!!
Bob has been working with my 16 year old son as a geometry, algebra 2 and German tutor for the last 2 years. He has gone above and beyond in trying to understand how my son learns and presenting the material to him in the best way possible. He is always prepared - often doing prep work to insure he knows the material thoroughly. He is always on time and has been extremely flexible in accommodating both our sons academic needs and changing schedule. We only have positive things to say about Bob.
Bob has tutored both of my children in 2 different subjects (German for one, math for the other.) He is making a huge difference in their understanding of the subjects as well as making them enjoyable to learn. My daughter was struggling in German II. Bob tutored her for two years, helping her to move ahead of her class. Now she is in German IV and doing well on her own. Our son has also improved overall in Math, earning himself a spot in the Honor's Society at his school. Bob also helped prep my daughter for the ACT and my son for the SSAT, of which both scored well respectively.

If I drive there, I usually charge $35 within about ten miles of home. If somebody wants a lot of hours, I will work out a break. See my website, (concealed information) for details. Also note that I am willing to Skype for $25 because of the lack of travel time. If I Skype, I will want to have the same book or online resource as the student so we can both see the same things.
