About Candace
College graduate with a degree in Psychology (with a focus in Child Development). This doesn't directly apply to math, and specifically algebra, but here's why I can be the perfect tutor for you!
When I was in highschool I did fine in math classes - but I didn't enjoy it. Then I hit Algebra I, and I was suddenly so lost I couldn't work my way through the homework and scored poorly on a few assessments. I decided to go to every after-school tutorial session my teacher offered. I continued going until I not only understood the topic, but found enjoyment in the process.
I ended up taking and making A's in Algebra I-III in highschool, and then Statistics (going on to be a TA for two semesters) in college. I've tutored my friends and fiance in both these subjects.
I've found that being taught by a math-wizard can be frustrating- they don't understand why, or how, I'm confused and they aren't able to explain it to me so that it makes sense. (What I wouldn't give to have their brain!)

I need to know where you are in the chapter and where was the last place you felt confident about the work. (It's okay if the answer to both is 'IDK' - been there. We'll figure it out.)
Then we are going to go through each concept together and talk it out, practicing with examples as we go. I find the best way to learn is to write it down and do the practices- so I'm going to ask you to have paper/pencil and be writing notes / actually doing the practice exercises.
I'll start by being really active in the examples, then slowly pull back. We're going to go through it until you can do the steps without any prompting.
