About Kristal
I have helped tutoring/mentoring since I was young as I have helped raise 5 amazing younger siblings includying one with autism and another with ADHD. Over the past 3 years, I have worked with 4-12th grades in STEM based lessons including data analytics, STEM tutoring (algebra, geometry, calculus 1, data analytics, career development. I graduated with a bachelors in Mathematics, minor in Education, Child and Family, and Africana Studies. Currently on my way to recieving a Masters in Education .
I love when students are able to draw out their own interestes and make connections to the real world. As a math person, my goal is to make sure they feel they can find their own love for math and have the time to make mistakes. I would support those I tutor as I would my younger siblings or future students.
I helped translate for my mother when ypung and then began supporting my siblings when their leanring differences made it more challenging for them to succeed. From there I did anything from tutoring class mates, under classmen and helping ion Math team. My love for supporting and teaching others only grew over time!
Oldest of 7 Children, 2 with learning disabilities.
Bachelor of Arts in Math , upcoming Masters in Education.

First I try to establish a safe space for the students to know mistakes are encouraged, our goal is to grow and learn, and their needs are my priorirty. I want to know if they would prefer visuals, hands on/ minds on projects, or traditional methods of learning.
Afterwards we discuss what topics they are enjoying in the subject and which ones seem confusing to self asses their stress and places of improvement. Our next steps vary.

I was recently virtually woring with 7th-8th graders in a library group where we clearned made our own roller coasters to make one large rolller coaster. Not only were we able to get the majority of students to turn on their camera, one student in particular spoke for the first time and shared with us that he didnt unmute himself before because of his stutter, but he didnt feel judged in our space so he wanted to share about his roller coaster.

Details
I consider the location. Due to taking public transportation, I must consider the following: Am I traveling? How many times a week? How long per session? Charges depend but can occur fees starting at $5-$10+ per session.
Hourly Flat Rate Fee: Depending on the requirements there is an hourly flat rate fee, normally starting around $30 an hour.
Number of children and age: While I do not charge any additional fees for age, I do charge for additional children and the age difference which determines the extent of their individual requirements.
