About Karen

I have a natural gift for explaining advanced concepts in a way that can be understood by the student. My BS degree in Mathematics was attained Summa Cum Laude with a GPA of 4.0, and I have over 25 years of experience.

What I enjoy most is seeing the "light bulb" go on when a student understands a concept that they have been struggling with. I believe that any student is capable of learning mathematics successfully. They just need to have the concepts explained in a way that makes sense to them. Different methods work for different students.

I was an employee of the Mathematics Department in the tutoring center for the University of North Georgia.

I have a BS in Mathematics with a Statistics minor, graduating Summa Cum Laude with a 4.0 GPA.

About the lesson

I review the material submitted to me by the student that is giving them difficulty. There is no fee for my preparation time. I then cover the material with the student, being careful to explain all concepts in a way that they can understand. I also look for gaps in their previous learning that might be causing their current struggles.

Find someone who not only knows their subject but is gifted at explaining it as well.

I tutored a young man who had made in the 40's on a recent geometry exam. He was being given a chance to retake the test the day after I met with him. We worked together for an hour and a half, and I found serious gaps in his foundational understanding. He made in the 80's on his second try.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
They should look back over the course of their study and try to figure out just where it was that they began to lose the understanding of what exactly they were doing. Mathematics is a subject which heavily builds upon prior concepts. A grasp of each concept along the way is necessary for success. Gaps in understanding make moving forward virtually impossible.

Perfect! I thought Karen was great! She was knowledgeable and comfortable to be around. The whole session was productive, and she even emailed a worked-out solution of a problem we couldn't figure out after the session. Would highly recommend.

Karen taught me all the way through my high school years. As a result of her tutelage, I went to college with confidence in choosing math as a minor. My only experience having been as the benefactor of her time and effort, I got an A on every math class throughout my college career. Just looking at the evidence, there's no way that she could have been a better tutor than she already is.

She is a very good tutor/teacher who uses care and useful learning techniques to teach. She does assign new set of problems similar to the homework or the one she has explained to you and it helps with learning and retaining the information, so take notes ask questions and you'll be fine. Karen is a very good teacher. She cares about you and is ALWAYS willing to help in however way she can. I would say if you need "JUST THE ANSWER" she is not the right fit for you but if you want to learn and if you do your homework with her and listen to what she is suggesting you will have a good chance at getting the best grades of your life. I took her help for Calculus II - TAKE HER, not just for Calc 2 but for any Math class. She is the most amazing, caring math tutor you ever wanted. She will help with her HEART if you are sincere and willing to learn. She is very serious but very patient, don't be afraid to ask questions. STRONGLY RECOMMENDED!!
