Have taken many teaching classes while in the Navy and have experience teaching 3rd grade math
When helping a student to understand a concept, I try many different approaches. Sometimes you can see right off that an approach is not being understood, and you have to adjust your teaching style to meet the student.
I enjoy seeing the progress as concepts begin to make sense for the students.
Start by asking how things are going in class, and if there are areas specifically needed help with.

I like to begin by looking at past homework and tests to see what concepts are not being fully understood. From there, we practice the concepts until they begin to understand. When they understand the basic concepts, I move on to the tricky questions that the teachers like to ask to make sure the concept is able to be adapted.
