About Hannah
As another student, I have recently been through the material at school and I understand what teachers are expecting out of their students with the curriculum. I am currently in 10th grade at Quince Orchard High School but I have a lot of experience helping my fellow students. I love helping them and seeing how their grades improve. I am currently in Honors PreCalc and AP Physics 1 so I can help out with any math class before PreCalc (honors or regular) and Honors and on level Physics. I have gotten high A's in all of my classes, especially in my math related ones. I also take engineering classes in my school (I am apart of Project Lead the Way) and I have already taken Intro to Engineering and Design and got a 9/9 on the end of year exam (so I can help with that too). Additionally, I know how to apply the math and physics I would be helping with through engineering. In fact, I am one of the leaders of my engineering and robotics club at school. We build robots and participate in the FIRST Tech Challenge. As one of the leaders, part of my job is to teach the new members how to do things for that club (building the robot, using CAD, etc) and I can use that experience to tutor. I also have experience with younger kids. This past summer, I was a Counselor in Training for the City of Gaithersburg camps so I have experience explaining to kids how to do activities in ways they will understand. I also have experience with younger kids by being a swim coach. Also, while the main subjects I help with are math related, I can also help with AP US History. I took it last year and received a 5 on the exam, so I can help students develop good study habits and strategies for the upcoming exam.
I love helping others improve, especially when it comes to school. I put so much time in my school work to thoroughly understand all of it, and helping others with that knowledge helps me put all that effort to good use. I also love seeing the results of a lot of hard work with another student and seeing how their grades and attitude towards school changes.
I'm not a teacher, but I started tutoring in 8th grade in my math class. At first, one student next to me was too nervous to ask the teacher a question during class, but they still didn't understand what we were learning. So, I leaned over and quietly explained how to do it in a different way than the teacher explained it. They finally got it, so then they started asking me more questions more often. Other people in the class began to notice, and soon I was the go-to person when you didn't understand the topic and were too embarrassed to ask the teacher to explain it to you. Now, I do that in nearly all of my classes.
I am currently in high school so I understand the curriculum and what teachers expect out of students. I help other students in my class often, I was a CIT for the City of Gaithersburg so I have experience explaining things to younger kids, and I was an assistant swim coach for my summer swim team (Bennington Whales) and I trained at Joe Flaherty's Dolphins to become a swim coach for younger kids so I have experience explaining things to kids from there.

My typical process for working with a new student is talking with them about what they are having trouble with, then ask which part they are having trouble with, then explain that part in detail in multiple ways. For example, if a student is having trouble with a particular math problem, I might go very slowly through it and narrate what I'm doing, asking after each step if they understand why I did what I did. If I reach a point where they don't understand what just happened, I will explain that part in detail until hey understand, then move forward with the problem. To make sure that they get it, I will also then give them a similar problem and ask them to solve it on their own. If they get stuck again, I will try to hint them at the right direction while not just plainly telling them the answer, then review how to do it again until they are completely comfortable with the problem they were struggling with. I also try to use analogies when explaining complex concepts to make them easier to understand and I try to think of examples that make more sense.
I have worked with all kinds of students. I have helped students that are older than me (partulary in my AP Physics 1 class and Honors PreCalc class), I have helped students that are my own age in my other honors and AP classes, and I have worked with students that are younger than me in my engineering club. I have worked with students who just need to review or just need a little help with one particular problem, and I have worked with students who needed a whole topic reteached to them. I have also worked with younger kids outside of school through CITing and swim coaching.

Was very helpful in terms of simplifying complex concepts and was very patient!!! Loved her!!
She was very patient despite my hundreds of questions. She takes the time to make sure you understand the concept in the end, even if it takes a long time. She is also very smart and informed on pretty much any topic, allowing her to provide thorough explanations which further helped me.
She explains very well and also she makes you think about different ways to find the answers for the problems
