About Linda

Passion for sharing the incredible world of science and math!

18+ years of experience teaching a wide variety of courses in the areas of science and math.

I have an undergraduate degree in Physics/Math. My graduate degree is a Masters in Grassland Ecology. I am certified as a General Science teacher.

About the lesson

In order to best help a student I will want to know something more about their preferred learning style. Learning styles include: visual, auditory, read/write, and kinesthetic. My approach to instruction will include a variety of activities but will focus on the student's preferred style.

If the student has had some previous experience in the subject area, I may give a pretest to see what they do and do not know, or just have an informative conversation.

Expectations of the student are important. What level of competence are they expecting to achieve?

Developing a rapport with the student is of great importance in order for them to get the most out of their educational experience.

Most of my teaching experience has been with an Adult Education program. These students have not been successful in a traditional high school setting for a variety of reasons. I taught face-to-face classes to small groups of students. This enabled me to better get to know the students and modify instruction to meet their individual needs. I have also facilitated online learning using Odysseyware.

It was very rewarding when a freshman Biology student's grade went from a D to a B after tutoring! Building confidence and improving study habits are important aspects of my tutoring.

Perfect! Linda is absolutely phenomenal!! This was my daughter’s first time having a tutor and she was a bit nervous. However, from the first day until present Linda has been amazing and super flexible! She took her time with my daughter and explained everything that my daughter needed. Prior to beginning tutoring with Linda, my daughter had a 59% in Biology and less than a month her grades soared to over a 70%!!! We are blown away! Linda is super sincere, sweet, and very helpful in simplifying concepts. My daughter had ANXIETY before Linda’s help. Now, she even helps her own classmates understand concepts!
