About
I helped my younger high school friends (now seniors) bring their grades up from failing to high 80s-90s. I am patient and able to learn what an individual’s learning style is, so I can teach them in whatever way works best for them.
I am currently enrolled full time in college, taking Calculus 1. I took calculus in high school as well, as well as precalculus, Geometry Honors, Algebra 2 Honors, and Algebra 1 Honors. I have always received high marks in these classes- I graduated high school with a 4.0 GPA. In the past, I have been paid to tutor a couple times by my younger peers, and I helped them bring their failing grades up to high 80s or low 90s, depending on how far gone they were to start.

When I work with a new student, first I talk to them about what they think their strengths and weaknesses are. If they say they just don't understand any of it, I try to get them to narrow down what parts they struggle with. I ask to see previous tests, homework, assignments- anything that will give me an idea of what exactly I am working with. Once I have that established, I have a starting point and am able to begin teaching what they need to know. First I explain concepts to them until they understand it, changing my approach to explaining if necessary, and then I let them utilize the concept by giving them a problem to solve by using it. I help them along the way when needed, but my goal is to get them to be able to do it by themselves, so they feel confident and able when they need to do it on their own at school.
