About JAII
MY FOCUS IS TO MEET THE INDIVIDUAL NEEDS OF THE LEARNER. I RECENTLY MIGRATED TO THE USA FROM THE CARIBBEAN ISLAND OF ST. LUCIA WHERE I TAUGHT SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS FOR 15 YEARS. ALTHOUGH I AM NOT CERTIFIED IN THE USA, I BRING TO THE TABLE A WEALTH OF TEACHING AND TUTORING EXPERIENCE COUPLED WITH A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE COMING FROM A FOREIGN COUNTRY WHICH MAY JUST BE WHAT YOUR CHILD NEEDS TO IMPROVE.
I enjoy that split second 'light bulb' moment when the learner first comes to the realization that they actually learnt how to do something. It is then that they become eager to continue that process and enjoy the learning process.
I have been teaching all my life, straight out of school I became a teacher.
I am certified and trained teacher specialized in mathematics and science subject matter. My training and certification is NOT from the USA. It stems from an associate degree at the University of the West Indies.

I would first like to hear from the student about his/her strengths and weaknesses. I would then do a diagnostic test to evaluate for myself the specific needs of this learner and to determine if they align with what was pointed by the student. From then on I would formulate a plan to achieve our set goals. 'Our' because the student is expected to set goals that I should achieve as well.
I have worked with all types of students up to and including those older than I am. For the most part I have worked with 12-17 students of average to less than average grades coming in.
I would advise students to look for what works for them and not necessarily the status quo. As such I offer to meet with parents and students free to determine if the fit is right for us.
