About James
Hi! My name is James Bigler, I am a college student who has always loved helping others. I have recently started tutoring in my college town, and I really enjoy it. I am looking to expand my tutoring base, and decided this would be a good way to do so. I have a wide range of proficiencies, so no matter the need I will probably be able to help you. I enjoy working with kids, as well as people in my age group. I have am a year from graduating with a bachelors in business. I look forward to every opportunity I get to help others learn and understand new material!
I got started when colleagues came to me asking for help in some of our high school classes. This theme continutes as I am nearing the end of my bachelors degree. This has given me lots of experience in one-on-one tutoring as well as some group tutoring experience.
I have almost completed my bachelors degree in business, so I myself am still learning. I think this gives me an advanteage because I can easily relate to the struggles of learning difficult new material. This also allows me to think in terms of what generally works well for other students as far as teaching concepts goes.

First, I establish a relationship with the individual, I find getting to know them and taking an interest in their life leads to better results.
I next find out what specifically the student is struggling with, if we can find the exact problem it will be easier to teach.
Next I work out how to best explain the concept to the student so they will best understand.
Finally, I test the student with some practice problems, and evaluate their performance to decide whether to move on to a new topic, or try to explain to concept in a different manner.
I have worked with middle school, high school, and college students.

Details
Since I am newer to tutoring, and have not built repoire, I will price my sessions cheaper than the average price of tutoring. I usually charge between $20-30 a session, compared to the average $50 a session.
