About Carmen
Growing up, I always struggled with math and science and it felt impossible to fully understand the material. It wasn't until I got to college that I put in a lot of work into my study habits and discovered the best studying methods for courses that require critical thinking, such as mathematics.
I've tutored students of different ages in algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, biology, and general chemistry. What I love about tutoring is when students get that "aha" moment after finally understanding a concept that they struggled so much with prior to their tutoring session. My priority isn't just that students finish their work, it's that they actually understand the material so that they'll feel confident enough afterwards to complete their work.

It's helpful to understand exactly what concepts the student is struggling with prior to the session. Sending homework or past exams would help a lot, as it'll allow me to come prepared with extra example problems and to get straight into the tutoring.
