About Renee
I am a student currently at Cal Poly Pomona studying for a mechanical engineering degree. I am a great student who has excelled in all subjects, especially math, and during this whole COVID-19, I need something to keep me busy. Doing math is fun, and by tutoring, my math skills will be refreshed for the next school year! I have tutored my friends in college when they need help with their homework and I work very well with both kids and adults. I go as slow or as fast as you need, and provide simple steps and explanations so you don't just get your homework done, you really get to understand it.
I love math because there is always a right answer, and many ways to get there. Knowing how to do a problem requires a thought process that is unique to anyone and knowing how to solve a problem and getting the right answer by yourself is so satisfying. If you really understand math, it gets really fun!
I have a high school diploma, and am currently working toward a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.

Very first, I like to get to know the student, what they like and don't like about the subject, and what about it is challenging for them. I like to select a topic or two to work on and work through a problem together, explaining each thought process and step. Then, if they seem like they are understanding, the student does a similar problem with little help. This way, the student gets to understand each process and be able to do it on their own. I will work through a homework assignment, but it will take longer if the student does not understand much about it first.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Really understand what you need help with before you meet with your teacher to maximize your learning during tutoring, and prepare questions if you can. Asking questions is the best thing you can do for yourself during tutoring. Don't be embarrassed, we are here to help, and no question is a stupid question!
