About Jion
I'm a high school senior at BASIS Scottsdale. I've been tutoring for around two years and have loved every second of it! I enjoy watching students' faces light up when they answer a question correctly and seeing their progress as they begin to succeed in school.
I have mostly tutored 3rd-9th graders, but am willing and capable of tutoring anyone 5-12th. I'm most interested in tutoring students that would like some extra help with homework and those who would like to work hard at improving their grades.
Becauase my school has such an advanced curriculum, I have taken and excelled in a large range of classes, including:
- Math: Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Pre-Calculus, AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, Linear Algebra/Vector Calculus, History of Math
- Science: Honors/AP Biology, Honors/AP Chemistry, Organic Chemistry
- English: Honors/AP English Language and Composition, Honors/AP English Literature and Composition
- Humanities: AP U.S. Government and Politics, AP European History, AP U.S. History, History of Nazi Germany, AP Psychology, AP Macroeconomics/AP Microeconomics

During the first session, I typically ask the student what they are hoping to gain from tutoring so I can do my best to optimize their experiences. Depending on what the student is looking for, I can adjust my teaching style. For example, if a student wants help with homework and would like to improve their grades, I would immediately jump right in and take a look at what they need to do, identifying their strengths and weaknesses and focusing on what they need help with the most, strengthening their foundation.
Don't settle for a tutor that you don't click with! If you don't vibe with a certain person (even if it's me), let them know right away so you can find someone you can work more efficiently with so your experience will be more helpful and enjoyable.
