I met Aaron Petit in a music store. He recommended my current teacher. Because I have significant gaps in my early training and education, I have additionally consulted with Aaron to try to better understand things and get resources. Aaron is helping me in very specific ways – answering questions about basic theory as well as technical questions. He is able to meet me right where I am – and is able to give me clear answers, resources, technical exercises, and lots of encouragement. Recently, I asked him about developing the capacity for voicing and how to choose which voices to bring forth in a piece – and he suggested doing small sections out of the Bach 4 Part Chorales – something I would have never thought of. He is a great coach and resource – and I am looking forward to having Skype sessions with him in the near future.
