PLEASE NOTE BEFORE CONTACTING ME:
1. Please read my profile CAREFULLY AND FULLY before contacting me. If we’re not a good “fit” based on location, your learning needs and what I am offering as a teacher, let’s be fair to one another and not waste each other’s time.
2. I admire the fact that many of you want to learn the old school techniques of the B&W darkrooms of a now ancient era of photography.
Like most professional photographers, I went all digital many years ago out of necessity and in order to continue to make a living as a professional photographer.
Therefore, and like most other professional photographers, I no longer have a darkroom.
So unless you own or have access to a film camera and have access to a fully functioning darkroom in the Philadelphia area, please know that I will NOT be in a position to help you with your desire to learn the old school B&W darkroom ways!
But if you want to convert a digital color photo into a damn fine looking B&W image in P-shop, far beyond what the grayscale function alone can do for your photos? ... that, I can teach you along with the below description about learning how to see, the most important human, brain powered “technology“ of any art form that has ever existed.
Any technology is only a tool that will eventually be replaced by a better mousetrap.

Over the years since I started my career as a photographer, I’ve developed my own unique style of lighting and composition for studio photography, and more recently, for street photography.
Having gone to art school, I learned little about lighting techniques in school. But more importantly, what I did learn was how to look at my world and translate that vision into photographs.
What I learned was that the most important thing that any kind of artist needs to know is how to see. Once that ability has been established, technique will always follow one’s vision.
Learning how to look at the world and see the world as a photographer/artist is the most important thing that I can offer as a teacher.

My new site (see above URL) is best seen on any screen other than that of a mobile device, as in a laptop screen or larger, as the mobile version of my site is still a work in progress.
