About Philip
Teaching photography is one of my great joys especially when I witness a student having a flash of inspiration which really makes my day. My point of view as a instructor is to teach the related history of the photographic process and technology so that each student understands why things work the way they do. This gives my students a complete and comprehensive overview of the evolution of the photographic process from the advent of film to the digital age. Otherwise a bottle neck in their knowledge occurs and students have a less than comprehensive understanding of the power of photographic image. After all that is what teaching is all about to me. In my opinion, sharing of knowledge and experiences sparks inspiration which technology alone cannot accomplish.
To truly understand the digital SLR one must have a concept why things work the way they do and the evolution of the photographic process. It is said knowledge is power, assuming this is true one must have an understanding of the evolution from the world of film into the advent of the digital process and ergo the digital SLR. Once these foundations are understood in concept a is student ready and prepared to unleash their potential to create powerful images.
I do recommend students have a Digital SLR however I can teach this foundations class to students who have point and shoot cameras as the foundations of photography still apply to what ever kind of camera you own. All experience levels are welcome. I have worked as a Professional photographer for over 20 years and I have a breath of knowledge in Portrait, Action photography,Wildlife/Nature and studio photography.
The DSLR foundations class consists of three two hour modules which is taught in a classroom environment. That being said I can teach in the field as well.
I have worked in studios, major promotions , many of my images have appeared in major publications.

There are many online classes that offer lessons in Photography. That being said I find students retian and understand core concepts better and more rapidly when they are taught by a real working professional who has international publishcation credits. Understanding key concepts and core teachings as your camera see the world is a lot different than your eyes do.

Details
My Digital DSLR Foundations Class consists of three modules, each module is jammed with knowledge and information to get students on the right track empowering them to create great images.
I am offering this class online with email & phone support. Students will receive the respective three modules in increments one at a time ( self paced when student is ready) for the next module.
Each module will be emailed to the student as in the form of a Quick time video which is supported on PC and Mac computers along with email support of offered for a month from the day of sign up. Price for the online class and email support is $150. which must be paid in full before class commencement.
