About Matthew
I am a self taught wildlife and landscape photographer that has picked up many tricks and techniques along the way to hone my craft. I can help you figure out how to shoot in manual mode and compensate for light and subject motion. I can teach you about white balance, temperature, and post processing. Please check out my website for examples of my work, and soon enough, we can get you taking similar quality photographs!
(concealed information)
Every job I have ever worked has included aspects of education, starting with an arts summer camp and currently as an environmental educator and school teacher in Maryland.
I am self taught, but work alongside several other photographers; we share things that we have learned along the way. Over the years, I have honed my craft using trial and error until I get the results that I am looking for. I am very meticulous and don’t show off anything I’m not proud of!

As an environmental educator by trade, I am extremely adaptable to teaching students of any age and skill level. I ask several questions to determine skill level and where to start. I am very patient and understand how to convey information without throwing too much at you at once.
I have worked with students of all ages when it comes to environmental education, and ages 10-80 for photography lessons.
My advice would be to communicate what information is sticking, and what concepts you can’t seem to grasp. I never want to feel like I am talking at anyone, I want you to learn and actually be able to take your new skills with you and be confident!
One of my latest fond memories is when the Washington Capitals won the Stanley Cup. I was in downtown DC watching on a big outdoor monitor. It was quite the party in the streets! I was also able to make it to the parade.
