About Daniel
I have been studying classical piano for 20 years and recently graduated from Mannes Conservatory with a Master of Music in piano performance. I served as a TA for one year at Mannes, teaching secondary piano skills and music theory to undergraduate freshmen. I tutor and teach freelance now, where I've developed clear and engaging curriculum methods for students of all levels. Whether you are looking to brush up on your Music Theory skills, learn basic piano technique, or practice repertoire, I'm here to help!
I believe that it's important for musicians of all levels to have a working knowledge of theory, figured bass, counterpoint, basic keyboard skills, and score reading/reduction skills. Being a "complete" musician, whether you're an amateur aficionado or aspiring professional, will help you gain a deeper love and understanding of music. Music and piano playing are my passions and the more time I spend with them, the happier I am. Not to mention that I'm energetic, sociable, and enjoy the process of teaching.
-20 years piano performance experience
-1 year TA experience, group piano classes
-frequent substitute teacher at Greenwich House music school and Third St Music Settlement (both in Manhattan)
-served as an RA at summer music festival, worked with students ages 13-20 regularly
-Freelance music theory tutoring experience

The first lesson is a consultation of sorts, where we get acquainted and I assess the student's level via questions and some playing. It's important for me to know what the student's goals are (if adults) so I can know how to best help the student achieve these goals.

In a short time, Daniel has helped me improve my technique. He is a wonderful person to work with. He seems to know just the right suggestions to help me better understand those issues I struggle with in trying to improve both my technique and my ability to best interpret the pieces I'm working on. I really enjoy working with him and am benefiting a great deal
