About Kaylene
I let students pick the songs they love! I host 3 Peer Performance Parties in my home for a more fun and relaxed atmosphere. (These are all online during the pandemic, but getting ready to video a performance gives motivation to perfect a song or two.) Having 2 pianos means we can jam together. The digital adds drum beats and fun instrument sounds whereas the grand piano provides serious students with a great instrument . Incentive programs throughout the year provide extra little pushes along the way!
I enjoy getting to know each child for who they are and what interests/motivates them. I love helping kids develop strong character traits through the discipline of music education. I count on strong communications with parents for all feedback so that changes can be made as needed.
I started teaching my own 3 children and their friends 22 years ago! I enjoyed it so much, I made a career out of it!
I trained with the Royal Conservatory of Canada and have taught 22 years. I'm also continuing my education my scouring the internet for webinars, Youtube teachers, other master teacher interviews, etc. I'm always looking for new and good ideas.

I like to find out why a student wants to learn how to play the piano or theory. What they plan to do with it and what motivates them (performance, self-improvement, love of music and the instument, etc). Because we're one-on-one, each student can have their curriculum tailored to their needs.I
I have worked with all kinds of students--from 5 to 55. I love the variety that comes from each age student! I love the adult who wants to learn something new, I love the child who is intrigued by this large instrument, and I love teenagers for trying to do it all!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about what you want in very clear terms. For example, I want to be able to improvise, I want to be able to be a great reader to give me independence from a teacher later on, I want to learn about theory in order to understand song construction, I want to learn all about Classical/Modern/Beethoven/Chopin, I want to explore lots of different music.

Kaylene is not only a wonderful teacher, but she is a wonderful person. She is kind and caring, talented and creative. Kaylene challenges her students to explore new music skills and always do their best. My son has taken lessons with her for many years, and we are so glad that she has been a consistent teacher and friend in his life.
Our family has enjoyed working with Kaylene Peets. She's a great communicator and has an organized studio, with clear policies, etc. She is very knowledgeable about music pedagogy, but also willing to go slowly and tailor her teaching to my daughter's needs. Highly recommend!
Kaylene is an amazing instructor for my son. She is patient and professional. She has an enthusiastic and engaging way of working with the kids. She also provides us with useful resources for practicing at home. She is a great teacher who has a lot of passion for what she does.
Kaylene was wonderful! My daughter took piano lessons from Kaylene for 10 years - age 7 to 17! I very much credit Kaylene’s patient, loving, and flexible approach for my daughter sticking with lessons long enough to go from frustrated beginner to accomplished musician.
Kaylene is patient, nurturing, loving. Terrific with my daughter! And also very understanding when mom forgets something...
Kaylene has the unique ability to encourage and challenge students while also guiding them to relax and enjoy the many benefits and joy of music. Kaylene has taught my son for 7- 8 years and has become a wonderful role model for him in music and life!
Kaylene taught piano to my daughter for 12 years, until she graduated from high school. My daughter became an accomplished pianist under her guidance. My daughter's sight reading skills are very strong to a point that she has been the pianist for musicals in both high school and college. She was even the Musical Director for a musical during her first year in college. But Kaylene is more than a piano teacher. My daughter feels that she was her mentor and a true friend. She loves seeing her when she comes home for college. I have nothing but great things to say about Kaylene.
Kaylene is an absolutely amazing teacher and makes piano approachable and fun for kids. Both of my children studied with her (our daughter was with her for 3rd-12th grade, and our son from 3rd-9th grade). Not only did they learn to play, but they learned extensive music theory, participated in numerous peer performances to help them feel more comfortable performing, and willingly practiced almost daily throughout very busy middle and high school years. Kaylene is a magical wizard of a teacher--helping kids love music, gain discipline through practice, and enjoy a beautiful instrument that filled our home with music for many years. I cannot say enough great things about Kaylene!

I teach 2 terms a year, fall and spring. Classes can be 30-minute or 45-minute. If you are a child/teen, tuition is for the entire term for weekly lessons. If you are an adult, I offer a flexible schedule. Some adults prefer taking lessons every other week. Whatever works best for my students!
