About Nancy
I am also a performing singer - I have been a chorister with the Grant Park Symphony Chorus and the Chicago Symphony Chorus. I have played the role of Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls at Theatre By the Lake in Chicago, among others. I accompany all of my students (play piano for them), and offer them two opportunities per year (usually May and November) to sing in my studio's recitals accompanied by me, which are open to the public - for free.
I earned my bachelor's (B.A., music) and master's degrees (Master of Music in Voice Performance) in Chicago at North Park University. I use classical technique with: lower abdominal breathing, getting rid of negative tension, and allowing each person's unique voice to develop - and show my students how to apply that technique to whatever style they like! Students who have studied with me have performed on Broadway in NYC, "Anastasia"; at Lyric Opera of Chicago, "The Sound of Music"; Drury Lane (Oakbrook Terrace, IL); Paramount Theatre (Aurora, IL); Rising Stars (Chicago, IL); Porchlight Theatre (Chicago, IL); and Forte Productions at Pheasant Run (St. Charles, IL); to name a few. I have helped prepare students to sing and/or lead worship in their churches or synagogues.
