About Sarah
No half-measures, no mediocrity. I'm a firm believer in a strong foundation. Music theory, technique, and musicianship skills such as scales, cadences, and arpeggios are all vital to becoming a quality musician, whether the student is learning as a hobby or preparing for a career. I'm classically trained and detail oriented, and can teach a variety of styles.
My lessons are custom-tailored to every individual student, taking into account their goals, their personalities, their learning tendencies, and their physical capabilities. I teach extensively, detailing out my expectations for the week ahead in a notebook, and make sure each student is comfortable with the new knowledge they've been given. I don't have a set curriculum, and I don't have set expectations, however, I will keep students accountable to my instruction and expect students to be able to practice throughout the week. I never push my students beyond what they're comfortable with, however, I will help them accomplish what they're capable of. I believe positivity is essential, and always work to build confidence and a desire to learn in each of my students. Learning music at times can be very difficult (it's like learning an entirely new language!), but that doesn't mean that lessons can't be exciting and rewarding for everyone involved.
I can't imagine being in a better position than one in which I get to make a lasting difference in others lives. For me, music is a passion. I'm enthralled by its beauty, and I want others to see just how incredible and fulfilling music can be. I teach because it excites me to see others grow in knowledge and in talent of something that was previously foreign, untrained, or forgotten.
I grew up always wanting to be a musician. When I started lessons at the age of five, it clicked. It felt like home to me. Music is something I can never live without, and I teach it because I want to make others feel the same way my teacher did for me.
I received a bachelor of arts degree in music from Thomas Edison State College.

The beginning lessons are always a bit intimidating and awkward, but this phase doesn't last for long! Within a month, we've settled into a groove. In those first few weeks, I'm getting a feel for my student's learning speed, style, and capabilities, and I work to tailor the lessons to their specific needs.
All ages! My youngest students are three years old, and my oldest are in their fifties, so the age range is definitely a beautiful one!
Make sure that your goals are aligned with the teaching style of the instructor you choose, and make sure you love their personality! Additionally, make sure that you are willing to dedicate time and effort into growing your talent.
I'm very proud to host annual recitals, where students get to show off everything they've learned!
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Are you willing to commit time each week to practicing? It doesn't necessarily have to be hours, but it does have to be something each week. I typically recommend that my students practice 3-6 days a week, for anywhere between 10-60 minutes, depending on the age and long-term goals.

Sarah is an excellent piano teacher! She is very knowledgeable and skilled. She individualized lessons for each of my kids and really worked with them in the way that suited them best. I would highly recommend her.
Sarah has been a wonderful teacher to my 8 year old son. She gives clear goals, excellent feedback all while being kind and understanding. My son enjoys his time with her and has improved a great deal over the past year.
Sarah is so calm and patient with children! The only reason I started my son (5) in piano lessons was because Sarah could be his teacher. She knows the best way to start children out in lessons and to keep their interest. We have known Sarah for quite a few years now and I couldn't recommend her more highly to teach you or your children!
