About Marilyn
i've been teaching since i was 13 years old. i have a BA in music education and an MFA in voice and piano plus many years of experience. i prefer beginners because i can set a strong foundation and continue to build on it.
teaching someone to play the piano is a journey. every student learns in a different way and i love to discover that pathway. making music, learning the language, developing fluency and mastery...it makes life richer. right now, i'm teaching college classes via Zoom. it's actually an excellent platform because i can see and hear everything. my students are thriving and that makes me happy.
i have a BA in music education and an MFA in voice and piano. i've been teaching at assay Community College since 1976 and am also the director of music at a Catholic church on Long Island.

if the student comes from another teacher, i assess his/her skill set. if necessary, we begin by filling in whatever empty spaces there may be. if the student is brand new, we begin by learning to read, count, sit, approach the piano and have fun.
